VF4wide5As an Instructional Designer and Developer for more than 15 years, Colleen Horan has consistently demonstrated her ability to create engaging e-Learning products for adult learners. She is a motivated professional with the drive to gather, analyze and understand the targeted learning information. Colleen determines the most effective way to create and deliver engaging e-Learning courses for her audiences.

Colleen uses two main methodologies when developing e-Learning content, the Adult Learning Theory and the ADDIE Learning model. She uses both of these methodologies to gather course objectives, determine the lifespan of the material, understand her audience’s goals and motivation for learning, propose a learning strategy, design a detailed course script or storyboard, develop and deliver the courses or curriculums, and evaluate the success of the training.

Knowing the strengths of many e-Learning development tools or software, Colleen uses her knowledge and experience to determine the most appropriate software fit for the project. She is highly technical and has extensive experience using several e-Learning software applications including; Captivate, Camtasia, Articulate, Audacity, SnagIt, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Photoshop, and Publisher. Additionally, she is able to quickly learn new software and is a creative problem solver.

Colleen has the ability to self-manage her projects and can also work well in a team-oriented environment. She is very organized by nature, and has the ability to prioritize her projects but can be flexible. As a project evolves and scope changes, Colleen is able to explain the impacts of the changes to the project and can offer alternatives while helping to keep the project on target and still meet the needs of the learners.

Colleen earned her Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with a specialty of Graphics and Multimedia, Summa Cum-Laude, from Capella University. She lives in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania and volunteers for My Career Transitions as their Communications Director.  Colleen is an amateur photographer and painter.
